Boutique workspace, big attention to detail

Money Warehouse’s Bronte Road Office is a compact workplace with a big brief. Nx Studio was engaged to transform an unusually shaped 18sqm tenancy in Waverley into a contemporary, boutique office for two — complete with workstations, client meeting space, kitchenette, storage, and a small lounge. With construction currently underway, the focus has been on creating a highly functional space that feels professional, refined, and welcoming.

From day one, collaboration has been key. Working closely with the client, builder, and joinery contractor, every millimetre has been carefully considered to ensure the layout works hard without feeling crowded. The challenge was not just fitting everything in, but making it feel intentional and seamless — a space that reflects the client while supporting day-to-day operations.

We retained and polished the existing concrete floor to ground the space with texture and character, while freshly sheeted and painted walls provide a clean backdrop. A custom bulkhead wraps the perimeter to conceal services, maintaining ceiling height through the remaining office area and giving the space a refined architectural edge. The new kitchenette and utilities zone extends into full-height storage, integrating a flush-mounted fish tank as a unique focal point.

Additional low-height storage houses the TV and equipment, finished in New Age Veneer with custom routed detailing that continues into feature wall panels for a cohesive look. Black and stainless steel lighting — including pendants, wall lights, and surface-mounted downlights — pairs with concealed LED strips throughout the joinery and custom picture rail to create warmth and depth. A bespoke sit-to-stand desk anchors the workspace, extending into a meeting table for client discussions.

To soften the geometry of the space, a custom-shaped rug was introduced within the meeting and lounge zone. Designed to respond to the tenancy’s unusual footprint, the rug subtly defines the client area while adding texture, warmth, and acoustic comfort against the polished concrete floor. Its organic form helps break up the linear joinery and architectural lines, creating a more relaxed and inviting setting for conversations.

Further softening elements, including cascading greenery along the high window shelf and floor-to-ceiling sheer curtains, balance the clean lines with warmth and movement.

The result is a smart, tailored office that proves small spaces can deliver big impact — a boutique environment designed through close collaboration and crafted to support both team productivity and client engagement.
