Where timeless character meets thoughtful design

Set in the fashionable and historic centre of Balmain in Sydney’s inner west, this thoughtfully reimagined 1920’s home is a refined reinterpretation of a classic four-bedroom residence — where heritage character meets contemporary comfort.

Our clients wanted to preserve the charm of their home while improving functionality, flow and overall cohesion. The brief was to elevate the interiors without losing the warmth and personality that made the house special.

Working within the framework of a 1920s structure presented its challenges. Every update needed to feel seamless and respectful of the original architecture, balancing modern convenience with timeless detail.

Reclaimed timber flooring was installed throughout, adding depth, texture and a sustainable foundation for the redesign. Custom joinery became a defining feature, including a bespoke kitchen bench, integrated wine rack and built-in bookshelves that blend practicality with quiet sophistication. New living area furniture and feature lighting were carefully curated to enhance architectural elements and create a layered, ambient atmosphere.

Styling brought everything together, harmonising existing furniture and artwork with new additions to ensure a cohesive and personal interior.

The result is a home that feels grounded yet refreshed — honouring its heritage while supporting modern family living with ease.

“The attention to detail — from the flooring to the joinery and lighting — has completely transformed how we live in the space.”
